Match-Eve Preparations
We’re on the road to compete in another long range tactical precision match and take a look at preparations we go through the night before to make sure we’re all set and ready to compete the next day. We discuss chronographing loads to confirm muzzle velocity, confirming zeros, and development of stage-DOPE cards for the environmental conditions in the area we’re at.
Update 5/12/16:Â Since we made this video we have updated our practices. In many cases, the yardages published in the match books are not correct so we write up our dope cards on a stage by stage basis. We still find it useful to print out a drop table as a backup or when we have to range targets on the clock when yardages are not provided. When you are on the clock, it is much easier to consult a drop card than to look things up on your smartphone, Kestrel, etc,.
